Russia's main weapon in Moldova is population poverty and populism

Russia failed to ensure victory for its candidate in the presidential elections in Moldova. But the main confrontation for her lies ahead – the parliamentary elections at the end of the spring of 2025, at which Moscow will again try to play.
The Moldovan authorities do not fully understand the situation, because Russia uses the main weakness of the country – poverty. Even if Moldova can buy gas from Romania or through Ukraine instead of Russian gas, this is not decisive for citizens, for whom the price of gas is important, not that it is imported.
