A Portuguese politician who served as President of the European Commission from November 1, 2004, to October 31, 2014. Prior to this, he was Prime Minister of Portugal from 2002 to 2004. During his tenure as President of the European Commission, significant progress was made in the EU's enlargement, including the accession of 10 new member states in 2004. After completing his term at the European Commission, Barroso became Chairman of Goldman Sachs International, a division of the American investment bank Goldman Sachs. He also actively participates in international forums and conferences focused on global economic and political issues.
